Everybody wants to be the next Ted Bundy or David Berkowitz or Jeffrey Dahmer, but how many people dream of being the next Clem Richards or the next Jeff Barxley. I ll tell you how many: none, because Clem Richards and Jeff Barxley are the two most successful serial killers who have never been caught or even suspected by police. Uh, well, I guess until now. Crap.

Regardless, I feel it s high time we start enforcing a more strict set of core values on the up and coming serial killers of America. We need to weed through these folks and separate the poseurs who kill because it s cool, from the real heroes who are truly dedicated to their craft and murder families of four because they honestly believe God communicates to them through their doorbell. And, like almost any current subject, I feel the best way to get this done is through an article on a webpage that nobody really reads.

Now many of you may not know this, but I am a highly accomplished serial killer. I ve been butchering the innocent and not-so-innocent since 1976, when I fatally incinerated the nurse delivering me with one of my patented deadly optic blasts. In my nearly 29 years of existence, I have successfully murdered over 45 people to death, some of them multiple times if I was feeling particularly sassy that day. I feel my experience in the field of forcing living people to stop living makes me an expert in this industry, and hopefully I can offer a few tips and pointers to all those up-and-coming serial killers in the minor league circuit, hoping to some day bust through and take the murder business by storm.

THREE TIPS TO BECOME A MORE SUCCESSFUL SERIAL KILLER

While you ll probably get a lot of media attention murdering people while dressed like this, I imagine it would make being a successfully serial killer a bit more difficult.

1 MURDER A LOT OF PROSTITUTES. As far as the police are concerned, you re helping them do their jobs. They d probably give you a job on the force if you began murdering people who ran red lights.

Conversely, you do NOT want to go after high-profile targets like community leaders, minorities, children, or the Pope. I came up with this really awesome equation last night when I was watching Puffy AmiYumi, one that shows a direct correlation in risk between not murdering the Pope versus murdering the Pope. Did you know that if you actually murder the Pope, you re 483 more likely to get arrested for murdering the Pope than if you didn t. It s true. In summary, before murdering somebody, you ll want to ask yourself, how much community outrage will this person s death cause. If it s a lot, you should probably think about murdering somebody else, like a prostitute, bum, or webmaster. They are just walking shells of humanity anyway; their souls died long ago. Be careful not to murder a cop posing as a prostitute or a bum in some kind of sting operation, because then you ll end up on some stupid network reality show like Fox s upcoming, Serial Killer Island, where three contestants compete to kill the most theme park ride operators in 24 hours. The winner gets a savings bond for 38 and a giant posterboard that reads GOOD JOB in permanent marker. To differentiate between real prostitutes and cops pretending to be real prostitutes, ask the potential victim to get into your car. Once they enter, ask, so are you a real prostitute or a fake prostitute. Then, when the person questioned begins to answer, pull out a gigantic knife and stab them in the throat. If a bunch of blood starts spraying all over your car s interior, congratulations, you just murdered a real prostitute. If you see a bunch of wires and gears inside their exposed neck, and arcs of motor oil begin spewing out, then you just murdered a cop and you should immediately drive your car into the nearest paint-changing garage. No wait, I guess that s a robot. Robots are perfectly fine to murder, so you shouldn t really sweat it either way. Unless that robot is the Pope.

2 SEND A LOT OF RAMBLING, INSANE NOTES TO ORGANIZATIONS LIKE THE POLICE AND THE NEWS MEDIA. It s no secret that I eschew the West Egg breed of serial killers these days, the folks attracted to the glitz and glamour of the celebrity spotlight, but I admit that a real successful serial killer uses these groups to their own advantage. Like an artist, every mass murderer must find their own technique and style to make an impact on the world, and the best way to advertise your motif is through the media, who will undoubtedly interrupt their nonstop ads for Geico and World s Sexiest Spring Break Car Chases Caught On Tape 9: New Orleans to air police news conferences exposing your latest work.

2 Body. This is the meat of your letter, which means it should be written on steak. Ha ha, I am of course kidding, PETA would single handedly track you down and strangle you with your own small intestines if you actually did such a thing. This section should cover your motives and drop subtle hints regarding any future crimes you may have in store for the police. Do not be afraid to tease and taunt any government agencies who may attempt to foil your plans of murdering every citizen of an entire state before AM. After all, if the police were smart, then they would be the ones murdering folks and getting away with it, right. Right. Huh.

Now the key in this part revolves around creativity. You must cleverly drop a trail of bread crumbs leading to your next crime clue without brazenly announcing it to the entire world. Speak in a pseudo-code language that you make up as you go along. For example, at first glance something like death has come beneath the astronauts seems confusing and worthless, but it all makes perfect sense when you decipher it. Try to avoid copyrighted material such as the death of the innocent, I m lovin it, because I guarantee the lawyers for McDonalds have a lot more power and resources than your average police force. Make sure to sign your super-spooky killer pseudonym at the bottom so members of the media and police don t get confused and accidentally think it s from their own mother or something. Unless, of course, you are their own mother, which I guess would be considered ironic to many English scholars such as Alanis Morissette. Speaking of which, whatever happened to her. She kind of dropped off the face of the Earth. Not that I m complaining, mind you, I just want to make sure a serial killer didn t murder her. Yet.

3 MURDER PEOPLE IN FUN, CREATIVE WAYS. What s the one thing that all of America s founding fathers had in common. Besides being dead, I really don t know. Features

Optimum Position Grouping

The XPS incorporates pre-configured motion groups and user-definable motion groups to optimize the performance and simplify the use of advanced features like line-arc trajectories, splines, contouring, and complex PVT trajectories. These motion groups can be single axis positioners, spindles, gantry groups, XY groups, XYZ groups or multiple axis groups. The flexibility of grouping stages greatly improves process flow and error handling and provides a uniform structure for easy application development.

Compensation for Maximum Accuracy

An extensive set of compensation features are available to the user including backlash, linear error and error mapping in single, 2D, or 3D. All compensations are corrected dynamically at each servo cycle, updated at the rate of 8 kHz. This broad selection of options transforms the most basic positioner into a high performance device; thus increasing the accuracy and performance of any motion application culminating in more reliable results.

Variable PIDs

The XPS features variable PID s that automatically adjust their values proportional to the distance from final position. This unique feature can tighten the gain loop when in position or close to final position while loosening the gain during motion to improve stability. Using variable PID s also allows dedicated tuning of the servo behavior for short and long stroke motion resulting in improved motion sensitivity.

Real-time Processing and Multitasking

Based on QNX real-time operating system and multi-tasking functionality, the XPS is capable of executing complex, internally stored, user-generated applications using TCL scripts. The motion processor supports TCL program execution without adversely impacting higher-priority tasks. With this advanced real-time multi-tasking functionality, the XPS not only manages the most complex motion requirements but also serve as a powerful, standalone process controller to concurrently support multiple applications.

Command Motion With an External Analog Device

The XPS features four channels of 14-Bit analog-to-digital converters which can be integrated with a motion process using a TCL script. The analog inputs can be converted to directly control the position or speed of a motion axis via external analog inputs. This is critical in precision alignment or auto-focusing routines which require real-time feedback from other devices such as power meters, vision systems, or other sensors. Besides higher communication speed, the A-to-D conversion is internal to the XPS, therefore no processing burden is added to the host PC or the communication link. Consequently, this feature can improve process development and throughput.

Master-Slave Mode

In master slave mode, any motion axis can be electronically geared to a single master where all axes compensations of the master and slave s are taken into account. This mode simplifies complex system setups by synchronizing multiple motions into single axis commands.

Line-Arc, Spline and PVT Trajectories Motion Paths

The Line-arc trajectory is a motion path defined by a combination of straight and curved segments available only for positioners in XY groups such that constant speed is maintained throughout the entire region of interest. Sequential execution of the lines-arc trajectories eliminates discontinuities. A dedicated function performs a precheck of the trajectory to ensure optimized and safe execution within the positioners parameters.

The spline trajectory executes a Catmull-Rom spline on an XYZ group, passing through user-specified points with 3rd order polynomial segments at a constant speed. Similar to Line-arc trajectory, spline trajectory has functions for trajectory prechecking.

The PVT-mode is the most flexible mode for creating complex trajectories. In PVT, a trajectory element is defined by the end position P and end speed V of each positioner plus the duration for the element T. The controller then calculates the cubic function trajectory that will pass through all defined positions at the defined times and velocities. PVT is a powerful tool for any kind of trajectory with varying speeds and for trajectories with nonlinear motion devices.

Sockets, Multitasking and Multi-User Applications in One Controller

Based on the TCP/IP Internet communication protocol, the XPS controller can utilize up to 80 virtual communication ports, known as sockets. Users can split their application into segments that run independently on different threads or even on different computers. Another practical advantage for many laboratory users is that sockets allow them to concurrently share the same controller for different applications. For example, it is possible for one group to use one axis of the XPS controller for an optical delay line while another group simultaneously uses the other axes for a totally different application. Both applications can run independently without any delays or cross-talk.

Inputs and Outputs for Integrating External Devices

The XPS has a total of 60 digital I/O s to read external switches, control valves or other digital devices and 4 analog outputs to precisely monitor any motion axis such as position, velocity or acceleration. To synchronize external devices during a motion process, the XPS has dedicated event and action API s which users can use to trigger an action upon the occurence of an event. Typical examples include sending a digital output when constant velocity is reached or initiating a TCL script when the motion is done. Once defined, the XPS autonomously monitors the status of the event to trigger the action with a latency of less than 100 µs. Yes, same issue. I was somehow able to get troubleshooter to reload the SM Bus Controller, but I have not been successful on the CO Processor.

SM Bus Controller: SMBus

Coprocessor: SMU

I installed WIndows 7 in my new unibody MBP 15, all fine. I had only two question points in Coprocessor and SM Bus.

So I follow instructions, and I installed manually nvidia drivers from boot camp drivers coming with MBP.

Questions points there aren t now, but Windows performance index disk data transfer rate is again very low, only 2.9. .

I read many people have solved problem, with a 5 - 6 points.

How can we do.

All performance indexes are higher than Vista, but not the disk data transfer rate.

I hope you can help us

I had this issue too but solved it.

Hi all,

I too had the same issue and resolved it by installing two Nvidia packages from my Leopard disk.

On the Leopard disk in the bootcamp directory there is drivers directory.

One of these directories is called Nvidia, I installed two of the apps from here.

Can t remember which ones off the top of my head as i am at work.

But from memory there are only 2 that are not either 64 bit or for windows xp.

Once these drivers were installed the yellow triangles disappeared and I was able to get a Windows Experience Score.

Now, it s better to leave it off or to enable it again. .

I installed Windows 7 32-bit edition in my Aluminum MacBook with no problems, but couldn t get the Boot Camp drivers to install - I always got an uninformative error 2229. After reading Apple s forums I changed the Location to US and the Format to English United States and the Boot Camp drivers now installed without problems.

I upgraded Boot Camp to 2.1 and installed the Multi-Touch Trackpad update but I then found out that there were still driver problems with the SM bus and the coprocessor. A google search quickly brought me to this forum. I tried locating the NVidia.exe that you mentioned in the Leopard DVD, but only found these files:

D: Drivers NVidia NVidiaMobileSetup.exe

D: Drivers NVidia NVidiaSetup.exe

Trying to install any of these resulted in the following error message:

The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.

Fortunately success was around the corner. Since I had previously found out that I couldn t use my original copy of Leopard to install OS X in my MacBook, I tried the Mac OS X Install DVD that came with my Aluminum MacBook, and found out that it comes with different files. Running this installer solved my SM bus and Coprocessor driver problems:

D: Boot Camp Drivers NVidia NVidiaChipset.exe

As far as I can tell, the only thing that s not yet working for me is the mapping of the MacBook function keys row to the standard Apple operations brightness control, volume control, etc.

I followed your advice, and the WEI for my Aluminum MacBook s primary hard disk rose from 3.0 to 5.4. A bit strange, considering that Write Caching is supposed to enhance performance.

My overall WEI is now 4.5, with the Gaming Graphics performance being the lowest common denominator.

I replaced my 32-bit install with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 works in my Aluminum MacBook. To get everything working, perform the following steps:

Start Boot Camp assistant from Leopard, insert the Windows 7 x64 DVD and reboot.

Follow the standard procedure for installing Vista, taking care to leave the Location and Region unchanged as US and English United States.

When you boot into Windows 7 for the 1st time, insert the 1st of 2 DVDs that came with your MacBook, the one labeled Mac OS X Installation disk. It comes with the Boot Camp 2.1 drivers, but normal installation fails with Windows 7 x64. Do a manual installation by double-clicing the Boot Camp x64 installer:

D: Boot Camp Drivers Apple BootCamp64.msi

Reboot and most things will be working, except for the SM Bus and Coprocessor driver problems discussed in this thread. The solution is simple. Run this file:

D: Boot Camp Drivers NVidia NVidiaChipset64.exe

When it asks you which features you want to install, you only the NVIDIA SMBus Driver and NVIDIA SMU Driver need to be selected. After installation, navigating to the Drivers and Printers panel should show you that the Exclamation Sign is no longer displayed on your computer without even having to reboot.

The original Boot Camp driver for the MacBook s Multi-Touch Trackpad is quite buggy. As a final step, upgrade to the latest version.

After performing these steps, everything seems to be working for me, including the function button row. I got an overall Windows Experience Index score of 4.4, determined by the Gaming Graphics sub-score.

The Disk data transfer rate determined by the Windows Experience Index was 5.4, and I didn t have to disable Write Caching as described above to get this result.

Hope this summary helps.

32 64 bit on unibody macbook pro

For the windows 7 32 bit version you need is to install the driver for the SM bus and Coprocessor after the regular bootcamp installation from the Mac OS X Installation Disk.

For the windows 7 64 bit version you need to manually execute the bootcamp installation from the Mac OS X Installation Disk.

For the SM bus Controller and Coprocessor.

The only problem i have right now is that the installation disk won t eject. not in computer by clicking eject or by clicking the eject button on the keyboard. all i get is:

the smiley was not there before, but the forum doesn t know better.

I will try after the reboot the trackpad update requires to eject the DVD. I think this is only a fluke, but if not i will let you know. Everything else works great so far. My keyboard buttons like volume, brightness etc work fine as well. just not the eject button at the moment as mentioned before. l8

I put in Bobby Movie DVD after the reboot, set up the media player settings quick, and the movie started right away playing. Closed media player, ejected bobby, tried the install dvd again. ejected as well. i didn t bother trying to unzip a. rar file or even let the autoplay start though, so i am not a 100 certain.

this worked for me.

I have latest Macbook Pro aluminum with SSD, and Snow Leopard and Windows 7 RTM with latest bootcamp.

I grabbed my OS X install disk from the box 10.6 SL does not have bootcamp drivers in any accessible folder that I could find, installed the Nvidia 64 bit drivers. It completed without error. The processor yellow bang went away that was my only yellow flag.

I reran the Experience Index and all scores were higher now ranging from 6.0 to 6.3. I did not have to tweak the hard drive settings per previous posts.

I did have the problem where I could not eject the disc. I booted up again in Mac OS, ejected disk, rebooted in Windows 7, and installed multi touch update and now I can eject the disk. Go figure. Anyway, good news is that this 64 bit NVDA driver does make things go faster which is nice.
